All-Star/Select Softball is a competitive program in which more highly skilled DHYS rec players compete as teams against other, similar teams in interleague games and tournaments throughout the year. Once a team is selected in the spring, it will continue as the All-star/Select team into the summer, etc. until the next tryouts are held.

Select Softball

DHYS teams compete in the North Georgia Select League (NGSL), which includes teams from other local parks, while they are also playing in the spring recreational league. Select games are on Sunday afternoons in the spring, so they do not conflict with the concurrent recreational league season. Doubleheaders are played in March and April with a season ending tournament in early May. Practices typically happen on Friday evenings.

All-Star Softball (Red and Blue Devils)

All-Star softball is played primarily in the summer, and practices commence immediately after the end of the spring recreational league. Teams are expected to practice at least twice per week during the week, and teams compete in 4-5 All-Star or travel tournaments, which are held on Friday evenings through Sunday. Teams typically finish their summer season in June or early July. It is recommended that teams also play some fall travel tournaments, so long as they do not conflict with the rec league schedule. This is a time for continued development and advanced play. Intra-squad and neighboring park scrimmages are also encouraged.
